One of the world’s leading global engineering consulting firms, WSP | Calibre, has secured new premises in Perth’s QV1 tower — underscoring the depth of demand for office accommodation that offers a strong employee-value proposition.
WSP | Calibre has signed a five-year lease on 2,854sqm across levels 7 & 8 (part floor) of the 43-storey QV1 tower, situated at 250 St Georges Terrace.
The move to QV1 follows WSP’s acquisition of Calibre in mid-2023 and will enable the firm to provide its employees with a quality work environment in a sought-after pocket of the CBD.
CBRE’s Luke Bray, who brokered the deal, said the relocation to QV1 presented an opportunity for WSP | Calibre to provide superior office accommodation for its employees.
“With WSP’s existing Perth office situated along Spring Street in Mia Yellagonga Tower 2, QV1 enabled the firm to relocate its growing team from Calibre House into high quality accommodation close by.”
QV1 General Manager Theo Smyrniotis said the transaction highlighted the ongoing flight to quality and employee experience in the office market.
“Forward-thinking organisations are increasingly recognising the pivotal role that a compelling employee experience plays in attracting and retaining top talent,” Mr Smyrniotis explained.
“This includes aligning with a work environment that offers not only comfortable and quality accommodation for its employees — but access to wellness facilities, green spaces, onsite retail and a robust community engagement program.”
WSP | Calibre’s Co-Regional Director, Ryan Eales said, “Securing a quality office environment with access to a range of facilities and in close proximity to our existing Perth office were important considerations to foster greater collaboration with our people and clients.
“With an expanded WA team of just over 1,100 people, we continue to grow and broaden our range of services to support our clients and projects. We look forward to welcoming our people and our clients to our second WA premises at QV1.”
WSP | Calibre is committed to sustainability, with QV1 boasting a 6 Star NABERS Indoor Environment rating, 6 Star NABERS Energy rating with Green Power, 4.5 Star NABERS Water rating and 3.5 Star NABERS Waste rating.
Over the past 18 months, there has been a wave of leasing activity at QV1, with 16,500sqm of space leased within the building. This reflects a 42% reduction in vacancy. Other new tenants announced include Boston Consulting Group, bp, and Steinepreis Paganin. In late 2023, QV1 also welcomed Euroz Hartleys and JERA Australia.
