New Food Precinct at QV1

One of Perth’s most iconic CBD buildings, QV1, is set to undergo significant regeneration, with the first phase, a complete re-imagination of the ground floor retail plaza, already underway.

Co-owned by Investa Commercial Property Fund and Eureka - Real Assets, the investment will further position the building as one of Perth’s most desirable working environments and destinations.

The stunning, architecturally-designed space will become a vibrant, food haven for tenants, city workers and visitors.

QV1, located at the top of St Georges Terrace, houses a range of premium tenants across its 43-premium grade storeys and its ground floor plaza revitalisation will offer an exciting blend of quality food and beverage retailers.

Hip Perth eatery Mary Street Bakery has already signed up and are currently operating a pop-up venue in the plaza with a shift to permanent premises planned when the redevelopment is completed later this year.

Owners Michael Forde and Paul Aron will then turn their attention to turning the former Bar One restaurant into a contemporary inner-city tavern to be known as Tinys..

A complementary offering of premium bars,  casual dining and ‘grab & go’ venues are expected to commit to Perth’s newest wine and dine precinct in the coming months.

The new precinct  will be a striking counterpoint to the QV1 building, designed by internationally renowned modernist Harry Seidler AC.

Crested with a giant steel and glass oculus structure, the exciting new meeting destination will heavily utilise elements of nature, including canopy trees.

Hassell Architects Principal, David Gullund, said the oculus will be a truly bold statement without comparison in Australia.

“The rooftop structure will be surrounded by lush, green trees and vibrant floral features, generating shade, wind protection and ultimately a relaxing, usable space for retailers and customers within the space,” he said.

“The revitalisation of the QV1 plaza draws inspiration from the global trend of creating flexible open-areas with dynamic, interactive spaces for meetings, cultural events and restaurants and bars,” said Mr Gullund.

The venue will provide improved amenity to QV1’s existing tenants and deliver a much-needed, dedicated urban food precinct for west end city workers, according to Brett Dillon, Fund Manager at Eureka - Real Assets, a subsidiary of AXA IM - Real Assets:

“The western end of St Georges Terrace continues to  strengthen with a number of new projects including the pending completion of Capital Square, as well as the new Perth Arena and Channel 9’s new offices.  The creation of the space at QV1 will deliver a fresh identity to the precinct and confirm the building’s position as one of the most desirable office locations in the City. We are committed to attracting Perth’s top tier organisations, whilst also ensuring that the building complements the significant redevelopment seen in the area over the past few years”.

“QV1 is arguably Perth’s highest quality commercial building, so to be adding such an impressive and active destination to the ground floor plaza is really setting a new benchmark for office accommodation in the Perth CBD,”  said Investa’s Perth General Manager, Tom Simurina.

The revitalisation is scheduled for completion in early 2018. QV1 is - co-owned by Investa Commercial Property Fund and Eureka - Real Assets, a subsidiary of AXA IM - Real Assets.
